Poland - A view from the side (2)

Started at a lovely town called Poznan and ended up with a visit to the Oskar Schindler Museum. In between we visited 4 other cities including Gdansk, Warsaw and Krakow, took ferry rides to beaches, traveled by bus 1 1/2 hours to see Auschwitz/Birkenau and 3 hours to see the Black Madonna (one of the most visited Catholic shrines in the world). Nazi brutalization and occupation, life under the Communists (especially the Solidarity movement) and the Holocaust were themes we explored most as we visited museums, Jewish cemeteries and walked through neighborhoods. An incredible way to learn history.
Every town had a beautiful "Old City" and town square which was filled with all kinds of shops, small stands and lots of tourists and looked almost like they were right out of a movie set. Just fun to explore and very romantic - especially at night.
     On to the Czech Republic.
